The children in our Half Day Pre-K (Eager Beavers) class are 3-5 years old.  The ratio in this class is 10:1 with a maximum of ten children.  This program runs from 9:00-12:00 and follows the Loudoun County School calendar.

Each week the children enjoy a new theme and are introduced to it through ideas and discussions, story books and tapes, art projects, game activities and more.  They also focus on a weekly letter and number.

In this classroom the children begin our Hooked on Phonics and Spanish programs. The Hooked on Phonics teaches children letter sounds and recognition and then moves on to beginning and ending sounds and reading basic words.  This is all reinforced through poem, book, art, writing and share time.  The Spanish lesson reinforces the weekly theme and teaches the children many new words, songs and short phases including their numbers, colors and shapes. 

This class does allow for some free play where the children enjoy centers such as block area, house corner, art center, manipulative, board games, outdoor play and computers.

It is our goal to help each child reach their own highest potential and to give them the best preparation for kindergarten as possible.
